The 30th anniversary of the Run to Ruidoso packs the Inn of the Mountain Gods!

Ruidoso, New Mexico, is tucked into the Sierra Blanca mountain range making it a perfect desert get away. The area is surrounded by tall pine trees, a quaint downtown with cool temperatures year round.
The Run to Ruidoso was started in 1987 by the Early Times Car Club of El Paso as a way for rodders to gather together and make the 2.5 hour drive up to the mountains. The first event had the members gathering at a small, private air strip, then it was moved downtown for a number of years. As the event grew, along came the need for a larger area which took the show to Ruidoso Downs Horse Track for a number of years.
This year was the first year for the event to be held at the Inn of the Mountain Gods, a beautiful resort and casino located on the Mescalero Apache Tribe. Apparently the new location was a hit because the car count doubled over the last couple years! Hot Rods were parked all across the landscaped back area overlooking a calm lake and stunning view of the mountains.
Rodders rolled in Friday night, many to take in the Charlie Daniels Band concert, or to take in the crisp mountain air and to get prime parking spots for the show. In the AM, cars started rolling in and they just didn’t seem to stop until early afternoon.
One of the high lights of this show are the handmade trophies for a number of different awards. Also, a lot of door prizes are offered throughout the afternoon including great parts and accessories from MSD Performance (based in El Paso), Brizio Street Rods, and other local shops. There are also raffles for a number of huge gift baskets with a little something for everyone.
Between the beautiful setting presented by the Inn and surrounding mountains and a few hundred rods and muscle cars, it was a spectacular 30th anniversary and we’re looking forward to many more Runs to Ruidoso!
